GameStop offers $100 credit towards the New Nintendo 3DS w/ 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, Vita trade-ins

If you have been waiting for a solid trade-in deal to upgrade your Nintendo (or Sony) handheld console up to the New Nintendo 3DS XL, now might be the time. GameStop is offering $100 in credit towards the purchase of a new Nintendo 3DS XL when trading in a 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL or a PS Vita. Regularly $200, this would bring your total down to $100 on Nintendo’s latest handheld that features an additional thumbstick, faster processing, amiibo support and exclusive games.

If you’re interested in upgrading, this may be one of the best values you will find outside of selling or trading independently, which comes with its own set of hassles. You’ll find more details on the terms and conditions of the trade-in below, but for the most part it appears as though a system in good condition with a charger will lock down the credit.

You can find your nearest GameStop here.

On top of this morning’s game/app deals, GameStop is offering a Buy 2 Get 1 Free on pre-owned Wii or Nintendo DS games and accessories.

Terms and Conditions New 3DS trade-in:

$100 Credit toward New 3DS XL: Offer valid through 7/27/15. Credit must be applied toward the purchase  of the New 3DS XL. Hardware must have all necessary components for trade. Not valid toward cash trades. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Defective items may be eligible for trade at a lesser value.  Trades subject to manager approval. Cannot be combined with any other offer.  See store associate for details.  No dealers.  Offer valid in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam only.  Void where prohibited. GameStop, Inc. reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the offer for any reason without notice.

Update (5/26 5:15pm): If you don’t have an old console or aren’t ready to part with yours yet, Amazon has a terrific PS4 bundle: For $399 (regular retail price) you get a 500GB PlayStation 4 console with The Last of Us Remastered and a 1-year PlayStation Plus membership ($50 value). Deal ends tomorrow.

There’s no reason you should still be holding out on jumping into a PlayStation 4. Sony’s most recent game console has a host of terrific games including Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, and Mortal Kombat X with huge names in the pipeline for release later this year.

Usually it’s best to avoid console trades and go for private sale. However, Best Buy stores are currently running a deal that’ll net you a minimum of $175 (3x normal value) towards a PS4 for your old PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360: expand full story

Update March, 14: Target just let us know it’s taking an additional 1o% off iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display in addition to the trade-in offer and gift cards mentioned below. The extra 10% off is available through Target’s Cartwheel app.

New Apple promotions from Walmart and Target may be enticing enough for holdouts to finally upgrade to the newest iPhone and iPad.

Walmart is getting aggressive and beating out Best Buy’s current $50 discount on iPhone 5s by dropping the price all the way down to $119, according to CNN Money. This is one of the lowest prices we have ever seen for Apple’s flagship smartphone. expand full story
