D-Link-Wi-Fi Motion Sensor-release

Following last month’s release of its new Wi-Fi Smart Plug, D-Link is now expanding its line of home automation devices with the new Wi-Fi Motion Sensor. Like the Wi-Fi Smart Plug, the sensor is designed to make your home smarter and safer and will automatically fire off a push or text notification to you as soon as it detects motion.

D-Link’s new Wi-Fi Motion Sensor can be used to know when the kids get home, when the dog goes outside or even if the garage door is opened, for example, but the functionality goes even deeper when paired with D-Link’s other Connected Home products and the new mydlink Home mobile app for iOS and Android.

D-Link-Wi-Fi Motion Sensor-release-02Along with customization features for your smart home devices, the app also allows for various D-Link Connected Home products to work in conjunction with one another: “For example, easily pair a D-Link Smart Plug with a Wi-Fi Motion Sensor to make home electronics immediately react to motion, such as setting an action for the lights to turn on as you walk in the front door, another for a fan to keep the living room cool while you’re there, and another for music to play when you step on the treadmill.”

The new D-Link Wi-Fi Motion Sensor (DCH-S150) is now available direct from D-LinkAmazon and other retailers for $39.99.

D-Link is also announcing the new AC1900 Wi-Fi Router (DIR-880L) today as well. It features 11AC Wi-Fi dual band connectivity with speeds of up to “1300Mbps on the 5GHz band and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz band.” D-Link says this is the “company’s highest end wireless router to-date.” It is available direct from D-Link at $189.99.

Wi-Fi Smart Plug Stories May 6, 2014

D-Link has just launched its new Wi-Fi Smart Plug designed to offer users full control over their electrical outlets via the free mobile apps. The small adapters communicate with any existing WiFi network and plug into any electrical outlet. The user can then control power to any of the devices plugged into the adapter.

They come with a few handy features along with basic on/off control. You can create custom schedules for particular outlets and monitor your energy use on connected devices.

You can set device schedules so that you walk into a brightly-lit home every day after work with your favorite song playing and the AC exactly where you want it.

The system also includes a thermal protection system that allows you to manually shut down power on an outlet and includes a thermal sensor that will automatically turn off over heating appliances.

The D-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug comes in at a slightly lower price tag than the popular $60 WeMo options from Belkin. D-Link is launching its smart plug at $49.99 right now (temporarily out of stock on Amazon) and the mydlink Smart Plug apps for iOS and Android can both be downloaded for free via the App Store and Google Play
