Doney Kong Country Select-01 A few weeks ago listings for a new batch of Nintendo Select titles were leaked by a Canadian retailer, followed by the official announcement and pricing details. Set for release on March 11th (this Friday), the new Select titles are now up for pre-order on Amazon and Best Buy. Better yet, the games are eligible for Amazon’s 20% off pre-orders and new releases promo. It’s not often we see first party Nintendo games go on sale this low, so it is nice to see some of the company’s solid library titles come available at the discounted rate.

expiredGames/Apps: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword $40, 1TB Madden Xbox One + 50″ Samsung HDTV $850, freebies, more

Update (8/23 8:20pm):

In today’s best game/app deals, Rakuten is offering The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword for $39.99 shipped. That’s up to $15 off the regular prices, $5 under the next best and the lowest we have seen since in over a year. While most Nintendo games rarely get price drops like the 2DS is about to, with Skyward Sword it’s few and far between. This is a Wii game, but it will play on your Wii U no problem with a Wii Remote.

Ride your Loft Bird across the skies, exploring floating islands, taking on quests and searching for treasure. Find rare materials that upgrade weapons, items, and shields.

Next up, Best Buy has another console HDTV deal on. You can grab the 1TB Madden 16 Xbox One bundle plus a Samsung 50-inch Class LED 1080p Smart HDTV in Black for $849.98 shipped. Full HD 50-inch Samsung HDTVs go for $600+, so you’re effectively getting the 1TB Xbox One for $250 or less. This Madden bundle goes for $400 on Amazon. If you haven’t seen the hilarious new commercial “Madden 16: The Movie”, you can check it out here.

At Walmart, you’ll find the PS4 console bundled with 3 months of PS Plus and two free games for $399 shipped ($438 value).

Other notable game deals include Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS for $30 Prime shipped (Reg. $40+, matched at Best Buy) and Far Cry 4 on PS4 and Xbox One for $19.99 Prime shipped (Reg. $30, matched at Best Buy).

Club Nintendo, the rewards program for Nintendo Wii U, Wii, and 3DS users, today posted its final Rewards Catalog to let members redeem coins collected before March 31, 2015. There are 42 Wii U titles, 28 Wii titles, and 48 3DS downloads to choose from with coin values ranging from 150 to 850 coins, plus a collection of 13 physical items ranging from greeting cards and posters to t-shirts and bags. Additional final gifts not requiring additional coins will be announced for Gold and Platinum “Elite” members on April 1, and redemption of coins will end on June 30, 2015.

Coins for the Club Nintendo program primarily stacked up with 16-digit codes found inside Nintendo game packages, but also came from eShop downloads, Nintendo console registrations, and completing Nintendo surveys. If you haven’t yet checked your Nintendo Wii U, Wii, or 3DS titles for these codes, now would be a good time to look for them inside the front lids of game boxes, and redeem them at club.nintendo.com.

Some of the numerous downloads now available can be seen below…

Announced this morning during its Nintendo Direct video series, Nintendo has launched a new Throwback Sale in its eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. While most of Nintendo’s discounts aren’t particularly newsworthy, this one is a better deal than most, because each week includes a steeply-discounted Wii U title, plus smaller discounts on several Wii U and 3DS releases.

The biggest steal in the bunch is Super Mario Galaxy 2 at an all-time price low of $9.99 (reg. $20 digital, $36 on disc), which is today being offered for the first time as a digital download for the Wii U. As the flagship original Wii Super Mario game, Galaxy 2 features an interstellar theme with completely 3-D planets. Also available for the next week at reduced prices are:

  • Super Mario 3D World ($45, reg. $60, $52 on disc)
  • Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 [Game Boy Advance Virtual Console] for Wii U ($6, reg. $8, cart here)
  • Yoshi’s New Island for 3DS ($30, reg. $40, $37 on cart)
  • Pushmo for Nintendo 3DS ($3.49, reg. $7)
  • Pushmo World for Wii U ($7.49, reg. $10)

Next week, Punch-Out!! will become available for the Wii U, followed by Metroid Prime Trilogy one week later. Nintendo has indicated that some Wii games – unfortunately not Super Mario Galsy 2, we’ve learned – will no longer require special Wii controllers to play on the Wii U. Check out our Wii U Buyers’ Guide for recommendations on the right Wii U bundles, accessories, and games to purchase, as well as our daily Wii U deals for additional discounts.

Forget Destiny and Call of Duty. The best game you’ll fire up Christmas morning will be Duck Hunt.

Nintendo’s classic shooter will be available for download through Virtual Console on Wii U for $4.99 starting next Wednesday. Even though it won’t be compatible with the original NES Zapper (you’ll have to use the Wii remote), there’s no doubt it’ll still be crazy fun.duck-hunt-super-smash-bros

The Duck Hunt dog and one of the ducks (shown to the side) recently joined Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U. Just imagine if Nintendo goes all out and gives us a Duck Hunt Duo Amiibo?!

The original hit the shores of the US in October of 1985 before releasing nearly a year earlier in Japan. While receiving mediocre reception upon release, the game has since become a classic among gamers. expand full story
