    Just note, however, that this is the outgoing model, not the new Retina model.

      That’s correct, if it was the Retina model it would carry the much higher price tag of $400

      Just to confirm it has to be used on a future purchase (which can be an iPad), but cannot be applied to the original purchase of your iPad mini
