You were previously required to physically visit a Best Buy location to unlock/activate your membership whether you purchased it online or not. However, Best Buy is now allowing customers to purchase the GCU membership and activate it entirely online. You can even purchase it alongside games you are interested in and receive the discount on the spot.
Your Gamers Club Unlocked membership will be activated on your My Best Buy account. If you do not have an account, you can create one during checkout.
Amazon launched a similar program for gamers a few months back, extending a 20% discount on just about all pre-orders and newly released games.
