The Etch A Sketch is back, but now it’s totally different than you remember

Almost everyone can recall spending time over an Etch a Sketch trying to create the simplest of shapes with impossibly hard to operate dials. Well now Spin Master is back with an all new Etch A Sketch Freestyle that has a stylus. Not only that, the knobs have been replaced with two rubber stamps and the LCD screen now has rainbow colors instead of that green and black you and I remember. About the only thing that remained the same is how you erase it. That’s right, the shaking up and down motion.

The Freestyle is similar in nature to the  BoogieBoard eWriter. Actually, Spin Master has teamed up with that company to create this new Etch A Sketch, and it uses the same technology and design as BoogieBoard products like the Magic Sketch and Play n’ Trace.

The price hasn’t gone up that much. The Freestyle will go for about $20 when it comes out later this year.
