Sony’s 4K Media Player is finally here, comes packed with 10 Ultra HD videos and $700 price tag

There has been a recent wave of 4K capable devices hitting the market, we’ve even seen some deals on these ultra HD sets, but the public has been (rightfully so) hesitant to jump onboard due to a lack of 4K content.  Now, Sony is doing their best to nullify that argument by bringing their first 4K Media Player to market this week.

This player comes packed with 10 high resolution movie titles so buyers can start instantly showing off their new TVs.  Movie titles include: The Amazing Spider-Man, Taxi Driver, Bad Teacher, and more. Backing up their promise to deliver more 4K content, Sony plans to launch a Video Unlimited program to serve full-length 4K movies and TV shows directly to the player’s built-in 2TB hard drive. The FMP-X1 4K Ultra HD Media Player sells for $700 and is available for shipment now from Amazon.  Sony 4K TV owners can save $200 on this player by submitting this form.

Further helping the proliferation of 4K, Apple has announced that the new Mac Pro will support 4K monitors.  Like this ASUS 31.5″ 4K monitor, now available for preorder.
