This USB 3.0 500GB also has a battery and broadcasts a 802.1N wireless signal to up to 3 portable devices at a time including iPads, iPod, iPhones and Android devices as well as Macs and PCs.  It also functions as a USB 3 hard drive when connected via wire. The car adapter will keep it charged on long trips or airplane flights but the internal battery will last a few full-length movies on its own. We reviewed this very favorably last year.

Don’t need quite as much hard drive space and want a smaller package? Amazon has a Sony Portable Wireless Server (WGC10/N) that uses SD Cards instead of a 500GB Hard Drive for $44.29 shipped. You’ll need to pick up an SD card if you don’t already have one. The Sony has a longer lasting 10 hour battery life and can even charge a USB device and connect up to 10 devices simultaneously.
