Amazon is offering the 3TB Western Digital Red hard drive for $124.99 with free shipping. That’s $75 below retail, within $10 of the best price ever, and one of the only noteworthy deals we’ve seen on this drive since the fall.
The Western Digital Red line of hard drives feature IntelliPower technology, which is key to a happy NAS system: “a fine-tuned balance of spin speed, transfer rate and caching algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance.” Other features of the Red drives include NASware for seamless integration and error recovery controls and 3D Active Balance Plus which minimizes vibration and noise. 840 Amazon reviewers rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
