HGST Touro Desk Pro 3.5″ hard drive enclosure w/ USB 3.0 cable: $2 + $8 shipping

OWC (Other World Computing) is offering the HGST Touro Desk Pro 3.5″ hard drive enclosure w/ USB 3.0 cable for $1.95 + $7.84 shipping via this link and entering the following code in the search field: HIT0STOUROEXT3. This is basically an HGST Touro Desk Pro external HD with the hard drive removed and being sold as an enclosure for even lower than most cheap, no name 3.5″ HD cases. A standard, well rated 3.5″ USB 3.0 enclosure will run you anywhere from $15 to $25 or more compared to the brand name, roughly $10 price tag on today’s deal.

Technically not a pre-owned item, but there is signs of wear due to the original drive being removed. However, OWC offers full warranty coverage on the “functionality of the power supply, Cable and USB 3.0 Bridge component within the enclosure.”

Should have read the not-so-fine print: “OWC Note:
Use of a previously formatted drive inside the HDST Touro Desk Pro will require the drive to be reformatted. Also, moving a hard drive from the HDST Touro Desk Pro to another enclosure or machine will require the drive to be reformatted. Please back up your data accordingly before doing so.”

I bought four of these and popped a 2TB WD drive in one (already formatted and 3/4 full). Computer asks me to initialize it when I connect it. Yay.

Nice. Thanks for sharing your info regarding reformatting. Enjoy your drives!
