As part of its Gold Box deals for today, Amazon offers the Moto Z (unlocked) 64GB Android Smartphone for $500 shipped, which is $200 less than its retail price of $700 and the lowest we’ve seen for the unlocked 64GB model by itself. Buying the functionally-identical 32GB Droid version of the phone from Verizon costs $26 per month, or $624 when purchased outright…
The Moto Z is definitely one of the best Android phones of the year, and at this price it’s a strong contender with the other four Android phones we think are your best buys this holiday season.
The phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, an Adreno 530 GPU, a beautiful 5.5” AMOLED screen with 1440p Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution, 64GB of storage w/ microSD card support, up to 30 hours (2600 mAh) of battery life with TurboPower fast charging, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
I reviewed the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid at 9to5Google earlier this year, and had mostly positive things to say about the two phones. My biggest complaints with them at that point were their high price point, the cost of the Moto Mods, and Verizon’s bloatware. At $500, I can recommend the unlocked Moto Z — which doesn’t have Verizon’s apps — wholeheartedly. 18 Amazon customers rate the phone at 3.9 out of 5 stars.
If you want to go with the 32GB Moto Z Droid, you can save $250 by buying it from Motorola alongside either the Moto Insta-Share projector or the Hasselblad camera Moto Mod. Your total price by going that route, however, will be a bit higher at $674. This deal at $500 is probably better.
In other Android deals, you should check out the Moto G4 Play for Verizon, which is just $35 at Best Buy, and works great without a data plan. There are also five more affordable Android phone deals you should consider this holiday season to be found in our recent 9to5Google Gift Guide.
