Smalt is an interactive centerpiece that also helps you manage your salt intake

Salt is an ingredient in many different recipes, but it’s not always easy to measure just the right amount you need. Now you can do this using your smartphone or Alexa with the invention of Smalt. This device is currently being funded on Indiegogo and when you have it dispensing the right amount of salt becomes very easy. Also, this “smart salt shaker” has a Bluetooth speaker, programmable mood lighting and its inventors hope it will make for a great conversation piece at parties.

Once you order it up, the desired amount of salt is dispensed into a removable tray at the bottom of Smalt. You can also order the salt with hand gestures on your smartphone. So you can even shake your phone like you would a salt shaker or pinch the phone’s screen for a standard pinch of salt. It has an LCD screen on the top of the shaker which you turn like a dial to access other features as well.

When you’re cooking with Smalt it’s even easier when you have Alexa too. You can use voice commands like, “Alexa, dispense half a teaspoon of salt,” and then Smalt will do the command for you. For those who have high blood pressure, Smalt offers an easy app to monitor salt consumption. This lets you easily check in and control intake for heart healthy awareness.

Smalt is more than just a salt shaker. Like we mentioned above it has built-in mood lighting and Bluetooth 4.0 speaker. There are also two different ways you can control its color-changing lights and sound. You can turn the dial located at the top of Smalt or use the app. With a four hour rechargeable battery you’ll have enough power to cook dinner and entertain guests.
