The San Francisco-based accessory maker WaterField has been pumping out high-quality, hand-made gear for years now. Along with a few other major players in the space, its designs and products are among our favorite options for keeping our coveted Apple devices covered and safe.
After Apple unveiled the new iPhone 8/Plus along with the edge-to-edge iPhone X, it was only a matter of time before WaterField introduced its new carriers. While the company already has a few options for the new devices, today it is launching the Ranger iPhone 8/Plus/X Leather Holster Case…
We also heard from WaterField with the waxed canvas/leather MacBook Zip Brief, followed by the new leather iPhone Camera Bag. The company also has a gorgeous Suede Jacket for iPhone 8/Plus/X now available for pre-order starting at about $12.
But today, it’s all about the Ranger holster. As expected with WaterField, the exterior is made of naturally-tanned, full-grain leather designed to look even better as time goes on. Available in black or chocolate colorways, the Ranger was designed to look as good with work outfits as it would with a suit or something more business-oriented. And as far as we can tell, it has certainly succeeded in that department, despite possibly being a little to large overall for some. You’ll also find a front leather pocket for keys, earbuds or cash.
As for the inside, there is a “scratch-free” Ultrasuede lining that will not only cushion your iPhone, but apparently clean the screen every time you take it in and out of the case. Along with tapered edges, there are openings on the bottom and along the sides for easy access to controls and the phone’s speaker.
The flap uses a Fidlock fastener which combines a pair of magnets to easily clasp together. Simply tug on the leather tab to open it up again. There is also some kind of Neodymium rare-earth magnetic attachment system in place that allows the Ranger to “clamp on to clothing or straps,” and stay there.
The unique magnetic systems really set the Ranger iPhone X case apart…You can strap the case onto a belt or just about anything else — contractors to their work vests, surgeons to their scrubs, professionals to a suit or strap. It’s so versatile, and the full-grain leather gets better and better looking with use.
As we mentioned above it comes in two colors and is now up for pre-order starting at $89. The iPhone X model is shipping on November 3rd, whereas the iPhone 8/Plus option hits on November 7th (although the Press Release does say the 10th).
Now there are a few important things to keep in mind when it comes to sizing here, so be sure to take a quick look at this before you order:
Size X: Fits iPhone X with or without the Apple Case, or the iPhone 8 with the Apple Case.
Size 8: Fits the iPhone 8+ with or without the Apple Case.
Weight and dimensions: 3.2 oz; 6 x 3.5 x .75 inches.
