Unico is a smart toothbrush that cleans your teeth in under 5 seconds

Update 12/8: Unico is no longer on Kickstarter after raising over $1,000,000 in backing and has since moved to Indiegogo. They have also pushed the delivery date back from February 2018 to June 2018. We have reached out to the Unico team for comment and will update you as we get information. 

Whether you want good-smelling breath or just for your teeth to not fall out of your head, brushing your teeth is a must. Most people don’t brush their teeth properly, however. Most dentists recommend brushing after every meal and for at least 3-minutes every time, with special circular motions. If you’re like me, you probably have a Sonicare toothbrush or something similar, but just having an electric toothbrush doesn’t completely remedy the issue. You still need to brush for 2-3 minutes and reach every tooth in your mouth. Then comes the brushing after every meal, no one has time for that on a busy day. Unico is here to help with that, however. With Unico, you can get a full brushing session done in just 3 seconds. Unico is different from a normal brush as it has bristles on all 3 sides of your teeth at once. This means that at one single time, every tooth in your mouth is being cleaned. With this technology, Unico was able to drastically reduce the time it takes to brush our teeth. Unico claims that it can brush your teeth with the same accuracy and ability that you would normally get from 3 minutes of brushing as a dentist recommends. Toothpaste is also handled by the Unico device. In the handle, you insert the Unico toothpaste and it will squirt the toothpaste as needed through little ducts. This results in less wasted toothpaste and more accurate cleaning. Unico can have multiple heads so multiple people can use it. There is also an app for your phone or tablet that allows you to control the washing time and speed while saving each profile to a dedicate name for multiple people to use. Another area that Unico separates itself with is the cleaning of the heads. Water alone doesn’t disinfect a toothbrush, though that’s what most people use to clean them. Unico has a built-in UV cleaner that ensures your brush is as clean as possible. If Unico really does fully clean your mouth in under 5 seconds, I can really see this technology taking off, and so can many other people. At over 1,000% funding on Kickstarter, Unico has already raised over $1,000,000. Unico basic kits with one power unit, one docking and cleaning station, one toothpaste bottle, and two mouth units start at around $117 USD. Delivery estimates show around February 2018, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long to receive your unit if you back it.
