Newegg offers a 2-pack of HGST 8TB NAS 3.5-inch internal hard drives for $412.99 shipped. Regularly these drives are around $245+ each which comes out to just shy of $500 for a pair. These are my favorite drives when building a NAS as they’re reliable and can hold a massive amount of data. Rated 4.1/5 stars.
For a more budget-friendly option, there’s always the 4TB WD Red drive at $125. You’re losing out on storage space here, as it has half as much as each of the HGST drives, though it’s just as reliable.
