‘Tis the season for holiday gift guides. Macy’s has now released its own Gift Guide to help you prepare for the busiest shopping time of the year. Whether you’re on a tight budget or money is no object to you, Macy’s has got you covered. Head after the jump as we break down the key categories in the Macy’s Gift Guide.
The Gift List
The Macy’s Gift List features “handpicked suggestions [to] make gift giving thoughtful, easy & stress free.” It’s unclear what the criteria are for these featured products, but many of them appear to be rated at least 4 stars (albeit in many cases, based on a modest number of customer reviews).
Nearly 250 items are included, ranging from toys and games to winter jackets. You can toggle the category options on the left hand side of the Gift List to help narrow things down.
Luxury Gifts
Does the special someone you’re shopping for have expensive taste? The Macy’s Luxury Gifts section has over 100 items that are aimed toward those who are attracted to designer labels.
Although this list has its fair share of high fashion and upscale home goods, it also includes the likes of Nintendo and Nest. That’s not to dismiss the quality of either brand — we’re obviously huge fans of them at Toys — but it’s a little funny to see a brightly-colored Switch console alongside an understated Michael Kors handbag in a Luxury Gift Guide.
Stocking Stuffers
For those tiny trinkets you want to shove in a stocking, Macy’s has a selection of Stocking Stuffers that includes makeup, jewelry, and more. While these products may be small in size, they’re not all small in price. For instance, these Diamond Bezel Stud Earrings are a cool $249, making them the most expensive item on the list. However, they are marked down from a list price of $700.
The Tech Shop
If you’re shopping for a technophile, then give the the Macy’s Tech Shop a glance. With over 60 products, it features the likes of Beats by Dre headphones, Amazon Alexa devices, Sonos speakers, and the aforementioned Nest and Nintendo items from the Luxury Gifts section.
Gifts Under $25, $50, and $100
The budget-conscious shopper should definitely hit this section of the Macy’s Gift Guide. It separates gift ideas into three price tiers: Under $25, Under $50, and Under $100.
If you need a decent White Elephant present, the Under $25 category has plenty of decent options for even well under $10 that’ll make it seem like you put some thought into your choice. For example, this Bodum Bean 12-Cup Cold Brew Coffee Maker is only $10, but it’s rated well and would likely result in the coffee-loving people in your gift exchange fighting over it.
But are there deals to be found in the Macy’s Gift Guide?
Many of the items included in Macy’s Gift Guide are already marked down and/or eligible for further discounts after ongoing coupons. While you may find better deals elsewhere — especially for the Tech Shop items, which are often exempt from storewide coupons — you’re not expected to pay full retail price for most of these things, either.
In fact, Macy’s Gift Guide items will likely be incorporated in Macy’s upcoming Black Friday sale. No official ad has been released yet, but you can read our guide on how to prepare yourself for what the renowned department store chain may have to offer come the big day.
