If you’re looking for an ultra-affordable desktop computing experience, Amazon is now offering the ASUS Chromebox 5 with wireless charging down at $259 shipped. Regularly $308, this is nearly $50 of the going rate and the lowest price we can find. Now well below the slight $297 deal we spotted a couple months ago, today’s offer marks a new Amazon all-time low and is really one of only a few price drops we have tracked there since its release in mid 2023. It’s certainly not the most powerful machine, but at a price like this it can make for an inexpensive office system or something to run your home theater on – it can even work as an affordable way to get some research/school work done with. The ASUS Chromebox 5, or the super affordable, casual Mac mini of the Chrome world as I like to put it, runs on a modest Intel Celeron 7305 Processor with 4GB of memory and a M.2 128GB NVMe SSD. Again, it’s certainly not going to break any virtual land speed records or anything, but it can get the job done for less. You’ll also find WiFi 6E, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, a microSD card reader, dual HDMI, and a built-in 15W wireless charger.
