Normally fetching $100, this is the first we have seen of this set since it was retired by the company in December 2023 after a 16 month run. During that 16-month timeframe, discounts were sparse and of little impact – except at far corners of the internet at third-party sites. Heavily inspired by the original Galaxy Explorer set from 1979, this remastered 90th anniversary edition model brings the iconic blast-from-the-past design into modern times. Stacking up to 1,254 pieces, it measures 20 inches long and 12 inches wide when finished, with some notable differences from the original. For starters, this set focuses almost entirely on the ship rather than also including lunar terrain builds as well, which the LEGO Group has taken advantage of in order to apply some updated building techniques to the model – for example, tiling over the wings, giving it a more completed look. It also utilizes a pair of trans-yellow windscreens to mimic the classic sets old color palette and comes with four minifigures too! You’ll get some vintage spacemen to crew the ship, topped off with a simple command podium and even a classically-inspired moon buggy!
