At the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), LG and Microsoft have revealed that an Xbox app will be integrated into LG’s smart TVs at some point later this year. Once this goes live, the folks with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription will be able to stream games from the Xbox Game Pass library on select LG TVs via the LG Gaming Portal. This announcement solidifies Microsoft’s continued efforts to push gaming beyond its Xbox consoles, trying to turn every screen and device into an Xbox.
Play Xbox games directly on LG TVs
The official Xbox news highlights ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ and the upcoming ‘Avowed’ as some of the titles you’ll directly be able to enjoy on the LG TVs, though you’ll also have a huge selection of titles at your disposal from the Xbox Game Pass library. And in addition to the games that are a part of Game Pass, the app will also allow you to enjoy Xbox games you own separately. This includes games like Hogwarts Legacy that aren’t included in the Game Pass subscription as long as they are compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Soon, players with LG Smart TVs will be able to explore the Gaming Portal for direct access to hundreds of games in the Game Pass Ultimate catalog, including popular titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and upcoming releases like Avowed (launching February 18, 2025).
LG hasn’t specified exactly which models will support the Xbox game streaming, and it also says the “service and country availability will be announced at a later date.” We expect the service to roll out sooner rather than later this year in the U.S., so keep an eye out. In the meantime, though, you can already experience and enjoy Xbox Cloud Gaming with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Also, the Xbox Cloud Gaming is already available on some Samsung TVs, so you’re not necessarily looking at an exclusive or an entirely new feature here with the LG announcement.
The 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is in full swing right now folks, and there are tons of new gear being showcased right now. We’ve already highlighted some standouts in our CES 2025 hub, so be sure to check them out and stay tuned for more coming your way.
