Apple’s originally $1,299 M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM now $749 for everyone at Amazon

Update: While previously only paid Best Buy members were privy to the additional $50 off, Amazon is now offering the same extra $50 in savings at checkout on the M2 MacBook Air models with 16GB of RAM at $749 shipped. 

The big-time price drops on Apple’s M3 MacBook Air lineup are still in full force, but for those who don’t need the latest and greatest and are just trying to bring spending down as much as possible, the M2 machine with 16GB of RAM is now on sale too. Amazon is now offering the M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD down at $799 shipped in all four colorways. This is matching the lowest price we have tracked outside of the $749 Black Friday offer. That said, My Best Buy Plus and Total members can score the same $749 shipped right now on this machine. 

When Apple upgraded its current-generation lineup of Macs back in October, it also upped the base tier models to 16GB of RAM from the previous 8GB. This move made its way to the previous-generation M2 MacBook Air we have on sale here today as well. Considering all of the major deals we see on Apple gear shortly before and after the next-generation gear is released, the newfound 16GB RAM setup on the M2 MacBook Air can deliver some serious value for some folks. 

The machine we have up top here today carried an original price at $1,299 – that means you’re saving $500 with the Amazon price and $550 off the value this machine originally carried via Best Buy. While it is listed at $999 these days, this is still an additional $250 below that price. 

For comparison’s sake, the newer and more powerful M3 MacBook Air with the same 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD is on sale right now for $899 shipped. While I for one might rather splurge a bit to score the newer model, those just looking for a solid work machine, something for school projects, or just light browsing action, will likely be just fine with the more affordable setup.
