America’s best-selling e-bike gets an upgrade as Lectric introduces the new XP4 series that retain accessibility while improving performance

After the tease we got from Lectric Ebikes regarding the next generation of America’s best-selling e-bike, the veil is finally being lifted on exactly what we can expect from one of the leaders of the e-mobility world. Today, Lectric is announcing the launch of its latest commuting solutions, the XP4 and XP4 750 e-bikes, which come with an array of upgrades from its predecessor, all while sticking to its principles of accessibility. Head below to learn all about these new models and their preorder bundle prices.

Lectric XP4 – the next generation of America’s favorite e-bike

Much in the same way as we saw from Rad Power Bikes with its new RadRunner series of e-bikes, Lectric has been offering its XP 3.0 e-bikes at new lows of $799 and $999 for the last week (down from $999 and $1,199), which had many riders curious as to whether this was a positive or negative sign, what with the current U.S. market being thrown into uncertainty over the tariffs introduced on imported goods.

It seems to be all good news, however, as the brand was making space for the next iteration of the most popular e-bike in America, the new XP4 and XP4 750 e-bikes, which will be starting at $999 shipped, keeping firmly rooted in the brand’s commitment towards accessible e-mobility designs.

Building upon the success of the XP 3.0 models, the new XP4 e-bikes are continuing a few key features while innovating the riding experience with a wider array of upgrades. The Standard XP4 e-bike will keep its 500W brushless gear hub motor (peaking at 1,092W) that produces 55Nm of torque and can reach a top speed of 28 MPH in states that allow it, otherwise topping out at 20 MPH. There’s also the continued front suspension (though with a new zero-degree stem) with lockout functionality and a 330-pound payload in total.

The two models in this new generation share many of the same upgrades, starting with a fully redesigned frame and even more colorways to choose from. Moving from the black or white aesthetics we’ve typically been seeing, the Standard XP4 e-bikes will now be available in Tempest Grey and Stratus White colorways, while the XP4 750 e-bikes will be available in Tempest Grey, Stratus White, Raindrop Blue, and Pine Green.

Getting into the upgraded parts, we’re seeing an in-house designed torque sensor being added to these models that will bring an even smoother power distribution into the experience, which has been one of the biggest desires from riders of its past variants. This addition also lends to the Standard model’s increased 50-mile travel range on a single charge (up from the XP 3.0’s 45-mile range). Of course, the XP4 750 e-bike, the series’ long-range model, is getting a significant boost in mileage too, as it sports a 750W brushless geared hub motor (peaking at 1,310W) with 85Nm of torque alongside a larger 17.5Ah battery that carries riders up to 85 miles on a single charge. Both models’ motors will also be utilizing the brand’s Stealth M24 tech for an even quieter performance.

From there, the upgrades are quite impressive considering they won’t be altering the price any higher than past variants, like the new detachable backlit 3.5-inch TFT color display that can be used to adjust settings, including the five fresh and intuitive riding modes. There are also the hydraulic brakes that come with 28% more rotor thickness for greater stopping power. Speaking of the brakes, activating them also triggers the taillight to brighten for added safety, while also offering turn signals that can be controlled via the updated button pad. And opposite these lights, you’ll also find a 90 Lumen headlight with side amber lighting so you can always be sure of where you’re headed when it’s dark out.

It’s cargo-hauling capabilities are increasing too, as the new LevelUp rear rack comes redesigned to better carry a Yepp seat, Buddy seat, or any other cargo up to 150 pounds in weight – which will likely maintain its popularity among delivery drivers and folks who use it to shepherd kids to and from appointments.

The previous 3.0 fat tires are being traded for 20-inch by 3-inch mixed terrain tires that come with custom treads, improving their efficiency on top of delivering noise reduction. These tires will also have polypropylene fenders over them. We’re also seeing a step up from the previous 7-speed derailleur to an 8-speed Shimano Altus derailleur, the zero-degree stem, a custom 56T chainring that has a dual-sided chainguard, and a repositioned non-drive side key location and charging port, with an option for keyless riding too.

All these upgrades are lending to an even more capable commuting solution than before, and that’s saying a lot, seeing as the XP 3.0 models have certainly gained their place at the top of the hill for a reason. Lastly, these e-bikes are compatible with an optional 5A charger, which “decreases charging times by 60%,” letting you recharge the standard battery in just two hours!
