Destined Rivals: Pokemon’s most anticipated set is officially here [Video]

One of Pokémon’s most anticipated sets of all time is officially here. This set pays homage to the original Team Rocket set of 2000 and also adds in some hero trainer cards like Ethan’s Ho-oh and Misty’s Psyduck. Pokémon is also releasing some unique promo cards for launch day! Here is everything you need to know.

The Destined Rivals set

Destined Rivals has officially released today at major retailers like Target, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart. Be sure to check links frequently as they continue to stock the shelves in-store and online. There are an abundance of products for Destined Rivals to look for. Here are some of the key details:

  • 83 cards tagged as Team Rocket’s Pokémon
  • 17 EX cards with 10 being Trainer’s Pokémon
  • 23 Illustration Rares and 11 Special Illustration Rares
  • 6 Hyper Rare gold-etched cards

All of these cards will be available in different product types, like:

  • Build & Battle Boxes
  • Booster Packs
  • Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs)
  • Booster Bundles

Free promo cards at GameStop & Best Buy

Pokémon’s throwing in a little bonus if you’re picking up cards in store. Spend $15 or more on Pokémon TCG products, and you can score a free Team Rocket-themed promo card, Zapdos from GameStop or Articuno from Best Buy. These are available starting today, but once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Availability

You can grab Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals starting today at most major retailers, local card shops, and online. I’ve personally had the most luck at local card shops. They usually limit one main product per customer, but they should have some available at retail price. You can grab booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and collector bundles.

Don’t forget, if you spend $15 or more on Pokémon TCG products you score a free promo card: Zapdos at GameStop or Articuno at Best Buy. Whether you’re here for the nostalgic Team Rocket vibes, the Trainer-Pokémon duos, or just some great new art, this is a set worth checking out. Let us know if you were able to snag any today!
