As part of its ongoing Black Friday in July sale, Best Buy is offering Acer’s Chromebook Plus 516 GE Cloud gaming laptop for $349.99 shipped. This particular notebook debuted last year with a $649 price tag and has mostly maintained that price, except for a few occasional drops to the $400 to $450 mark. Today’s deal at Best Buy, however, takes $300 off its usual going rate, to land it $50 below its previous low and our mention from earlier this year in February. The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE is one of the better options out there if you’re looking for a lightweight everyday laptop that can handle both productivity tasks and even some casual gaming. This 2024 model is well-equipped for its price, featuring an Intel Core i5-1240U processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. One of the highlights here is its 16-inch display with support for a smooth 120Hz refresh rate – better than what you’ll find on most Chromebooks in this range. Notably, you can even get Steam up and running on this machine to access a broader selection of games. Other highlights of this laptop include up to 10 hours of battery life, an RGB keyboard, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 2.5G Gigabit Ethernet port for smoother cloud gaming.
