Pokemon TCG Pocket announces latest Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion featuring Lugia & Ho-oh

Finally, Pokémon is bringing back the Johto legends! If you grew up playing Pokémon in the early 2000s, like I did, this new expansion set will be for you. The Pokémon Company has officially announced the next big update for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. It’s called Wisdom of Sea and Sky, and this brand-new expansion will launch globally on July 30, 2025, and bring the Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh to the spotlight.

What you need to know

Since this set is fully inspired by the Johto region, we will be getting Johto favorites like Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Hopefully, that means we will also get their evolutions! For those who play the TCG, this set introduces Pokémon with attacks that don’t require Energy, opening up fresh strategic possibilities for Trainers.

You can check out the official trailer now on the Pokémon YouTube channel.

New updates

Big changes are also coming to the game’s trade system:

  • New Wishlist System: Add up to 20 desired cards to your wishlist and feature three on your profile for easier trading.
  • No More Trade Tokens: Tokens are being retired in favor of shinedust, a new in-game resource earned through missions, achievements, and duplicates.
  • Token Exchange Deadline: Before the system fully transitions, you can trade cards for tokens until July 29 at 6 p.m. PDT.

These are all welcome updates that I will be taking advantage of asap!

Let us know what you think of these new expansion sets and what you are most excited for!
