Those old traditional power banks are on their way out in favor of what look to be much safer and more reliable semi-solid state models. There has been issues for years in some capacity or other, but with recalls surfacing on once universally accepted power banks with traditional Li-ion batteries seemingly ramping up, new solid models are the way of the future it would appear and STATIK just unveiled its new State Power Bank with some launch deals.
The new STATIK State Power Bank is not the first of its kind, but it’s one of perhaps a handful or so of models that hitting the market with a new approach to portable battery power.
The STATIK State uses semi-solid electrolyte battery technology with 95% less liquid than a traditional lithium-ion battery. This makes it non-flammable, resistant to puncture and crush damage, and capable of lasting up to 2× more charge cycles before degrading.
The brand says this new battery design is “safe enough for bedrooms. Durable enough for adventure [and] smart enough for every device.”

But more specifically you’re looking at 5,000mAh portable power bank with built-in MagSafe action that features what the brand calls a “Semi-Solid“ state battery. It features 95% less liquid with semi-solid electrolyte technology that, according to the brand, “virtually eliminates fire and explosion risks” while remaining TSA-approved for air travel .
STATIK also says it delivers over “1,000 charge cycles vs. 500 in traditional power banks.”

Outside of the new battery tech, you can expect to find a power bank with an aluminum frame and impact-resistant shell that delivers 15W MagSafe wireless charging, 20W USB-C fast charging, and features LED battery indicators and low-power mode for AirPods/smartwatches
Saying that it “virtually eliminates” the risk of fire and explosions is a bold claim, but clearly the brand is gutsy enough to put it right on the listing page. No brand actually thinks their power bank is going to explode, but clearly STATIK is pretty confident here, and while we are still awaiting our review unit, just the idea of moving towards these solid state-like internals does breed some confidence and should, perhaps, be the wave of the future if it is indeed safer than not.
