The KeySmart SmartLock features a an impact-resistant build made to “withstand the rough handling of baggage handlers so your lock and luggage arrive safely at their destination.” It is essentially an all-purpose pad/combination lock with an alloy steel construction and an IPX3 water resistance, just with onboard Apple Find My tech in place.
The TSA-approved lock features the usual third-party Apple Find My integration so users can leverage it to “locate your luggage via GPS with the help of the global Apple Find My network, or use Bluetooth to play a sound and find SmartLock nearby.” It is also important to point out that the actual locking functionality is not battery powered the way the Find My action is – even if the battery dies, your lock does not.
