The Whisker Litter-Robot 3 Connect was the first of the brand’s self-cleaning litter boxes that I personally used with my two cats, and also happens to be the first of the brand’s models to feature app-based smart controls. While it doesn’t boast the smarter features, expanded sensors, cameras, and other upgrades as the newer models, it’s still a highly capable means to never have to deal with daily litter cleaning again – one which I would still recommend to folks not wanting to shell out more money.
After researching self-cleaning litter boxes for a year (2023-2024) before settling on the Litter-Robot 3 Connect, Whisker is definitely the most premium on the market and brings along the safest designs compared to cheaper knock-off brands, many of which empty dirty litter along a vertical (rather than a horizontal axis like Whisker’s models), which has led to the death of many furry companions.
To put it simply, this model cycles after the sensors are triggered by a cat entering and exiting the main globe, sifting out clean litter and dumping the clumped dirty litter into the bottom drawer. Upon that drawer reaching full, all you need to do is pull out and tie off the bag or waste drawer liner that you’ve inserted and toss it out with the trash. This has been a game changer in my household and the households of friends and family alike as I turn more people onto them – not only cutting out daily scooping in smelly litter, but also cutting back on how much litter we all run through in a given month.
