The new M5 MacBook Air pre-orders are now live and there are actually some deals to be had even if you aren’t trading-in. Pre-orders are live on Amazon and we are very much hoping it will match the FREE gift cards offers you can score at Best Buy – it is offering a FREE $50 gift card on M5 MacBook Air pre-orders.

Update: We will update this post with the Amazon listings as soon as they are live.

As of right now, and likely right through the next month or so, the best M5 MacBook Air deals are largely going to rest in this bonus gift card offers. For me the Amazon gift card would be more valuable considering you can use it towards anything it sells, but the Best Buy option is really just as good for many folks.

If you’re not going to be trading in, these are the best deals around for the pre-order phase. Best Buy is advertising up to $600 in trade value towards the new M5 right now, just be sure to double check what Apple will give you first – Best Buy can be quite generous on new Apple releases, but it really depends on what you have to flip.

The new M5 MacBook Air lands nearly identical to the previous M4 model – we are tracking up to $300 off the M4 MacBook Air today with new Amazon all-time low pricing at the ready on select configurations. That said, there is of course some differences here including the more powerful state-of-the-art M5 chip powering the operation and a better charger bundled in the box.

You’ll notice Apple has done away with the 256GB storage tiers. The entry-level models carry 512GB of storage space by way of a more powerful SSD with, according to Apple, “2x faster read/write performance compared to the previous generation.” This also means the starter price has gone up $100 to $1,099.
