Amazon is now offering up to $300 off select M4 MacBook Air configurations just ahead of the M5 pre-order launch today. You’ll find 13-inch models at $200 off and 15-inch M4 models hitting new Amazon all-time lows at up to $300 off the list prices today.
As you can see in the list below the best deals are landing on the 512GB and up configs, but we are now tracking particularly notable Amazon all-time lows on the 16GB/512GB and 24GB/512GB 15-inch models at $300 off the list prices:

Today is indeed M5 MacBook Air pre-order day. But for folks not bothered by the latest and greatest, the as much as $300 in savings on the still more than capable M4 might be a better buy.
The new M5 model is largely the same as the M4, save for, of course, the newer more powerful M5 chip, a better charger in the box, and a change in pricing/storage tiers – there is no longer a 256GB storage tier, which has in turned raised the starting price to $1,099.
We certainly wouldn’t blame anyone for holding out on a deal for the new M5 model instead, but considering it took this long to see $200+ deals on the M4 it might be some time before the new model drops this low. That said, with the new starter storage tier there is some added value on the M5 models once pricing starts to drop in the coming months – it only took roughly two months before we started seeing $150 price drops on the base M4 model last year.
