I started my own journey (and ultimately die-hard following) with Whisker’s Litter-Robot 3 Connect back in 2024 after spending nearly a year researching the very best options for my fur babies, with this being the first of the generations to offer in-app smart controls (which have only improved with time). It may not bring along the smarter features, upgraded sensors, cameras, and more that the newer generations boast, but it still is a great option for anyone tired of regularly scooping litter – especially at this more affordable rate.
The standout draw here is its self-cycling design, which is triggered by any cat entering and then exiting the main globe, and comes as the safest operation over bargain-bin models that not only cycle vertically, but also have a track-record for killing curious animals. Whisker goes in the opposite direction, with the globe sifting out the soiled litter horizontally, never allowing any chance for it to clamp on any living creature’s head. Once the bottom drawer fills up, the robot and app will alert you to change out the liner (or trash bags that fit), and you’re all done. No more scooping, no more having your face right in the line of odors – plus, it cuts down on the amount of litter you’ll go through every month.
