Western Digital introduces 2TB Wireless portable drives with SD Card slot, 6hr battery starting at $200

Western Digital is now joining the ranks of LaCie, Seagate and others with the introduction of the WD MY Passport Wireless. This portable hard drive (that’s only a bit bigger than a deck of cards) can connect to up to eight different devices at the same time via Wi-Fi, letting you stream your videos and music to portable devices wherever you go. There’s no cloud-based access to your files, so you’ll need to have it with you in order to use it.

It’s equipped with dual-antenna that can transfer up to 80 megabits per second, and the drive’s battery can last for six hours of continuous streaming. It works with PCs and Macs, but it’s actually meant to be used by your smartphones and tablets. You can transfer files back and forth, automatically back up photos and videos and play back large media files.

There’s also an SD card slot that can offload the contents of the card automatically. You can set it up to quickly transfer the pics and then erase the card, letting you get back to shooting quickly. It also has a USB 3.0 port for high-speed transfers.

The My Passport Wireless is currently on pre-order now for $199.99 for 1TB and $249.99 for 2TB on Amazon.
