Alienware made a huge splash at CES earlier this year by reviving its Area-51 desktop. This new machine – which quickly became the talk of the town for its futuristic design and an eye-watering price tag – is now seeing its first discount. It now starts at $3,849.99 shipped, which is $600 less than the usual going rate for the Ultra 9 285K/32GB/2TB/RTX 5080 model. The most powerful config of this machine with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an RTX 5090 GPU is also at $5,299.99 shipped, down from its original price of $6,100. With up to $800 in savings, these new machines are definitely a bit easier on your wallet, though, not quite as affordable as the Aurora R16 desktops starting at $2,049.99 shipped for the RTX 50-series models.
Alienware’s Area-51 gaming desktop chassis sports a unique design with a ring-like LED running along the front. It features a clear side panel that lets you get a good look at the components powering it. Both models discounted today are powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K processor, which is a 24-core unit with max clock speeds of up to 5.7GHz. You can configure this with up to an RTX 5090 depending on how much you’re willing to shell out, and you can even go all-in with up to 64GB RAM and 4TB SSD. Other highlights here on the specifications side include a 360mm AIO cooler for the CPU, a 1500W PSU, support for Wi-Fi 7, and a chassis with a good selection of ports including 14 USB ports, among other things.
These new desktops will pair nicely with Samsung’s 27-inch Odyssey G7 (G70D) monitor which is down at $480 right now. This one sports a 4K panel with support for up to 144Hz refresh rate, and it’s down from its usual price of $700.
