Now that Sony’s new XM6 AMC wireless headphones are out in the wild – easily one of the biggest over-ear headphone releases of the last year – it might be hard to look past them for a set of AirPods Max. That said, those looking to score a set of Apple’s latest coloways with the USB-C connectivity can do so with all models now down at $479.99 shipped as part of this weekend’s Apple sale. We also have some even lower open-box prices to scope out below as well.

The nearly $80 price drop from the $549 list we are tracking today lands on par with the Memorial Day sale and matches the best we have tracked since the $450 offers way back in January.

Again, anyone looking to land a new set of proper ANC over-ear headphones should definitely have the XM6 on their radar. As much as I absolutely love them, they aren’t quite as high-end a build as Apple’s AirPods Max, but they do sound just as good to my ears though and are even more comfortable to wear.

With today’s deal both options are also very close in price. It’s a tough call and not easy to recommend one or the other – if you love Apple, get Apple’s, but if you’re on the fence and like the look of the XM6, go Sony.

With that out of the way, let’s talk open-box deals on AirPods Max. All of these options are in “excellent” condition with full 1-year Apple warranties and are said to work and look like new –– all of the prices below are undercutting our previous mention:

Apple AirPods Max features:

AirPods Max, the ultimate listening experience. Now in five new colors. An Apple-designed driver provides high-fidelity audio. Every detail, from canopy to cushions, has been designed for an exceptional fit. Pro-level Active Noise Cancellation blocks outside noise, while Transparency mode keeps you connected to your environment. Updated with a USB-C connector for even more convenient charging.
