Amazon appears to be down, it’s not just you

It’s not just you, Amazon appears to be down. At this point it seems like just the store is actually down, but it’s hard to say for sure. We started to see some oddities on listings over the last few hours and now it looks like most of its Gold Box page and many of the actual listings pages are either not loading properly or Amazon is in the middle of some kind of visual overhaul.

Is Amazon down right now?

It looks as though this is quite wide-spread across the Amazon store listings and there are reports over the last few hours of issues across its retail service on sites like DownDetector and the like. There’s 20,000+ reports just in the last hour regarding issues with Amazon.com.

At this point things appear to be working as far checkout, but only on some items and only sometimes. Something is definitely up – pages are only half loading, we are seeing “sorry something went wrong on our end,” messaging throughout the site, the fonts on the listing pages are all over the place, and so on.

This M4 MacBook Air listing for the official Apple Store, for example, is showing a new, or rather odd “To see product details, add this item to your cart. You can always remove it later” as opposed to the price itself.

Either Amazon is going through a very ugly and messy public breakup with what is soon to be the old site design, or there is some kind of major meltdown taking place.
