Samsung’s officially licensed 256GB Switch 2 Express microSD hits lowest price at just $39

Amazon is now offering Samsung’s officially licensed Switch 2-compatible 256GB Mario-themed Express microSD card for $39 shipped. This model launched alongside the Switch 2 last year, as one of the first Express microSD cards for the handheld. We saw it drop to the $39 mark when it was discounted for Mario Day earlier this year, and today’s offer lands it back to that lowest price with a 35% discount. Walmart and Best Buy are also matching the offer, giving you a few options in case Amazon sells out. This is a great offer for anyone who missed the Prime Day deal on Samsung’s P9 Express card at $40. You are getting the same 256GB capacity and Switch 2-ready Express storage performance here for a dollar less, and with the officially licensed Mario design. Head below for a closer look.

There is no shortage of Express microSD cards for the Nintendo Switch 2 now, with options from various manufacturers, but this officially licensed model was one of the first to hit the shelves alongside the handheld. Like competing Express microSD cards, it uses a PCIe Gen 3.0 x1, NVMe 1.3 interface and delivers transfer speeds of up to 800MB/s, making it significantly faster than standard UHS-I microSD cards. It’s only available in a single config for folks who want to double their Switch 2’s storage, and it’s available at a solid price right now.

Other notable Express microSD cards for Switch 2

Below are a few options worth considering if you’re looking to add more storage to your Switch 2 handheld:

  • Samsung 512GB P9 Express 800MB/s Express microSD $200
  • Lexar 512GB 900MB/s Play Pro Express microSD card $150

Samsung’s officially licensed Express microSD card features:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 uses a new standard of expandable memory card called microSD Express (sold separately). This kind of memory card is needed for faster access speeds and to ensure games will run smoothly.
  • Please note: Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards. If the microSD cards you have used for Nintendo Switch do not support microSD Express standards, you cannot use them with Nintendo Switch 2.
