Get up to $950 back with Galaxy Z Fold 8/Ultra pre-orders at Amazon, but there are some things to consider first

While the official Samsung site is offering up to $1,230 in instant trade-in credit on Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra pre-orders, you’re going to need to have a Galaxy Z Fold 7 or a Galaxy S26 Ultra to get that much. The “instant” part of the Samsung trade-in is the key here – it will come off the total you have to spend at checkout today on your Fold 8/Ultra pre-order. However, Amazon is serving up to $600 back alongside a $350 gift with trade-ins on pre-orders as well.

While it would appear the instant $1,200 off the new Fold 8 series devices is the best trade-in over on the Samsung site, that’s only if you have last year’s Fold to flip or this year’s flagship S26 Ultra.

Folks with older devices that are looking to trade up for the new Fold 8 series devices that also truly value the $350 in bonus Amazon credit, will certainly want to consider that route.

Amazon is advertising up to $1,000 in trade-in value, but there are very few devices that actually offer that much – you are more realistically going to get up to $600, and it goes down from there with older devices.

I think the play here is to check both sites, see which of them will give you the most back for the device you have to trade, and then consider the rest of the transaction:

  • A trade-in directly at Samsung delivers instant savings at checkout
  • A trade-in at Amazon will be verified within 10 days with the value sent over as an “Amazon.com Gift Card to your Amazon account for immediate use.”
  • You cannot use the FREE $200 Samsung store credit with a trade-in.
  • Amazon will give you a FREE $350 gift card on top of the trade-in value

Just be sure to scope out the details on all deals at the Samsung store as well:

When adding either of the new watches to the same cart with your Galaxy Z Fold 8 or Fold 8 Ultra pre-order you can land a giant discount on the watch itself – $268 off the Galaxy Watch 9 and as much as $300 of the new Ultra 2:
