LG is looking to take “LCD TV viewing to a whole new level” this year at CES 2017. The company will be debuting its new Nano Cell equipped Super UHD TVs (SJ9500, SJ8500 and SJ8000) in Las Vegas this week with what it calls “the most advanced color-enhancing LCD panel technology to date.” The Nano Cell LCD display users “uniformly-sized” particles to create a much more “nuanced” and realistic color spectrum. This also leads to much better viewing angles as well. LG claims there is “virtually no color difference for viewers seated directly in front of the screen and those watching from a 60 degree angle.” More below:
The sets will support multiple HDR formats and technologies like Dolby Vision, HDR10, Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) and “Advanced HDR by Technicolor”. The new “HDR Effect” enhances overall image quality for SDR content as well. You can expect direct access to Netflix and other apps using WebOS. The new Magic Link feature offers up content recommendations from LG consisting of around 70+ channels spanning the usual, sports, news and more categories. You’ll also get your hands on an updated version of LG’s motion-controlled Magic Remote.
While we don’t have pricing and availability specifics just yet. It looks like the largest model (at this point) is the 55-inch SJ9500 that measures about 6.9mm at its thinnest point.
