For those of us who tend to tap away with their hands when boredom strikes now have a new gadget meant just for them. Specdrums is a series of app controlled rings that actually let you to add music and sounds to your tapping. Currently being funded on Kickstarter, this new device turns everyday objects into instruments to make music.
Specdrums can work with both iOS and Android by connecting up to 10 rings at a time. You can even choose what types of instruments the ring uses when you tap. Pick from keyboards, drum kits, sound effects and even your own recordings. Then specific sounds can be used to match specific colors so you can tap on anything from clothes to furniture. If you want, you can even draw and then print out your own specified instruments to tap on.
Specdrums rings were designed with drummers and other musicians in mind who desire to have a portable MIDI device that fits in their pocket. Also, it can be used as a fun and educational toy for children. Music educators should enjoy Specdrums for its easy storage, low-budget and easy to set up nature. You can teach children to create their own instruments by cutting out construction paper for instance.
