Philips introduces new $30 iOS/Android-controlled Wifi Hue bulb, now available for preorder

There’s no denying that Philips Hue LED lighting products are nothing short of mesmerizing. They are also pretty darn pricey. But that’s all about to change because the Hue Lux series bulbs that were announced in March retail for half the price of traditional Personal Hue bulbs. What’s more, they have finally become available for preorder.

To achieve this much lower price point, Philips had to omit a major feature….

And that major feature is color. The new Hue Lux bulbs only support white light, as opposed to the 16 million colors that the Personal bulbs pack. However, they seamlessly connect with your existing Hue lighting system, are dimmable, and can also be controlled by the hue app.

Simple and smart, hue lux bulbs produce beautiful warm white light that can be brightened and dimmed to suit any occasion. Hue lux gives you total control over your lights via your smart phone or tablet, even when you’re away from home.

Slated to ship in late september, the new Hue Lux bulbs cost $29.95 each and the starter kit that includes two Lux bulbs and a bridge costs $99.95. Preorder from Amazon or the Apple online store.
