Pick up a free 2nd Gen. Amazon Echo Dot with the purchase of an Ecobee3 Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat: $250 shipped ($300 value)

Update (10/18 3:00pm): Best Buy has adjusted the deal, it is now $25 off each item for a total of $250. Still solid if you’re looking for an Amazon Echo, but obviously not as good as the original deal.

Best Buy is throwing in a free 2nd generation Amazon Echo Dot with the purchase of an ecobee3 Programmable Touchscreen Wi-Fi Thermostat. It will cost you $200 for the entire bundle, which is particularly notable because the thermostat alone usually sells for $250 while the Echo Dot has a pre-order price of $50. This is the first true deal that we’ve seen on Amazon’s latest release since it was announced a few weeks back.

To cash in on today’s deal, you’ll need to follow these directions:

1. Add the ecobee3 to your cart
2. Click on ‘pre-order’ on the Echo Dot listing page
3. The savings will be automatically reflected in your cart

The Ecobee 3 will save “an average of 23% annually” on home energy costs, plus it is loaded with features. For example, HomeKit control allows the ecobee3 to communicate with your Apple devices and enables Siri voice activation. It ships with a remote sensor that monitors temperatures in other areas of your home (you can buy more here.) The free iOS or Android app adds another layer of functionality with remote monitoring and data tracking.
