Herman Miller is one of America’s most iconic furniture brands with its wide-ranging inventory of products. Its Aeron desk chair has long been the gold-standard for office equipment thanks to its thoughtful design that has stood the test of time for 20 years. Now, it has been recreated with a lighter frame and the latest materials. Aeron Remastered is focused on sustainability, which is shown in its material choices and manufacturing process.
The new version uses 8Z Pellicle fabric that is designed to manage temperatures with a focus on breathability. That means air will pass through freely, cooling the user in the process. Of course, it still has the classic tension-focused lumbar system that offer plenty of support. A new control mechanism helps to create a healthy sitting position. Herman Miller now offers the new Aeron Remastered Chair in three colors (Mineral, Carbon and Graphite) with prices starting at $780.
So how did we improve one of the most iconic and beloved chairs in the world? We recruited co-designer Don Chadwick to reexamine the design criteria that led him and Bill Stumpf to the original in the context of today’s work and technology. With stronger, smarter materials, better adjustment capabilities, new finish options, and a healthier, more comfortable sit, we didn’t recreate or redesign the Aeron Chair—we remastered it. Just as iconic films and albums are updated for new audiences, Aeron has been remastered to meet the needs of today’s work, workers, and work environments. By coupling co-designer Don Chadwick’s vision with Herman Miller’s latest research around the science of sitting, the new Aeron works smarter than ever before—so you can too.
