Perhaps you’ve seen Miracle-Gro’s AeroGarden? While this is an excellent way to grow herbs in the off-season, visually it’s not the most attractive thing to have sitting on your countertop. Enter Herbert. A wall-hanging alternative that has a clean design and will have your family eating veggies year round.
Herbert sits on your wall with three rows of five planters, just below a hydroponic LED light. A seed is planted within the provided biodegradable sponge and over the course of four weeks you’ll see growth. Herbert only requires water a few times a month, and fertilizer even less. For city dwellers and garden-enthusiasts, this might just be the answer. It’s currently available for backing on Kickstarter with a required pledge of $361. If all goes to plan, it will ship in October.
Herbert is changing how fresh food is grown. Making it possible for everyone to produce locally at home. The in-house developed LED technology and hydroponic system allow for optimal growth of your plants all year around. This way you can harvest up to 40% more. Indoor farming has never been that simple, clean and beautiful. Create your own living and colorful picture on any wall. It is completely leak proof. Choose between a beechwood or poplar finish. Herbert is a hydroponic vertical garden, which means that plants grow directly in water and no soil has to be used. This technology is also used by e.g. NASA for producing food crops on space exploration missions. This way planting needs less space, is clean and much more efficient.
