Sony debuts three new retro-style translucent PS4 controllers

While it may not be as extensive as the ever-growing list of custom and special edition Xbox controllers on the market (Microsoft loves these things), Sony has its fair share of interesting DualShock 4s as well. Whether its the all gold on gold take, the classic black or deep cover camo, there’s no shortage of options. Today, the company is introducing three throw-back style DualShock 4 controllers for PS4 in red, blue and crystal…

They might not have been first on your list for the next edition PS4 controllers, but it is cool to see Sony take a more retro approach with the new translucent options. The entire front face of the new pads are translucent revealing the electronic interior of the DualShock 4. Outside of that, these are your standard PS4 gamepads.

As we previously mentioned, there are three colorways available for pre-order today including red, blue and crystal. Each of which will be exclusive to a particular retailer. The clear crystal is at GameStop, red goes to Best Buy and blue is available at Walmart. They should all be available today for $64.99, but we are yet to see the Walmart listing go live.

We recently reviewed the Colorware bespoke controllers for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. If you’re looking to make a statement with your controller or would prefer to design your own right down to the colors and textures, we highly suggest giving Colorware a try. You can find all the details you’ll need to know about the experience in our hands-on review.

From deep in the vault, fan-favorite translucent colors are back with DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller-Crystal. This limited-edition controller, featuring a translucent top panel, shows all the inner workings of the controller you know and love. Add some style to your play!
