A couple months back, August unveiled its latest generation smart home security products. On top of the newly designed August Smart Lock and Smart Lock Pro, the company also debuted a new doorbell. Packed with intelligent features designed to make your life easier and your family safer, the new Doorbell Cam Pro is available starting today.
Luxury Book iPhone 7 Plus Case
You are able to speak with and see visitors at anytime using the device’s two-way audio system and one-way camera. According to August, this is an HD camera that allows you to view your front step from anywhere (more on that below).
It is also outfitted with an integrated flood-light which allows you to see in dark situations or at night. On top of the intelligent motion detection, there is also a technology known as HindSight in place here. While in most cases motion detection will allow you to capture creatures and thieves after they have approached the door, HindSight will kick in even before that allowing for a much better picture of what actually occurred out front of your home. Even if the person doesn’t ring the doorbell, they will be captured on camera.
Although keep in mind, you will need an August Video Recording subscription to take full advantage of the cloud features. That will run you $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year on top of the price of admission. It would have been nice to see some kind of freebie 7-day storage option like NETGEAR offers, but the yearly subscription is slightly cheaper than some.
With the Doorbell Cam Pro we’ve added powerful new features that let consumers control and monitor their door from anywhere. Whether they are having packages delivered safely inside their home or using the Doorbell Cam Pro as a security device
While the new August Doorbell Cam Pro will act as a Bluetooth low energy (BLE) Wi-Fi bridge for the entire August system. When used in combination with the August Smart Lock Pro and August Smart Lock, users can easily view and talk to visitors remotely before letting them in the door. Certainly a nice touch for those of us looking to this kind of tech, but you will certainly need to invest in the eco-system in order to fully reap the benefits.
