Retro gaming is all the rage lately. Seriously, it seems like there’s a new retro gaming product announced every week, and I’m perfectly OK with that. I grew up with old-style arcade games as my father worked for Aladin’s Castle and Namco as I grew up, so I was always surrounded by arcade-style gaming. But, enough reminiscing, it’s time to talk about the Cary42. The company behind Cary42, Love Hulten, says the name came about because they wanted to say you could “carry for two.”
Nomad Base Station
This unique retro gaming system is perfect for anyone who loves the old-style games and wants to play with friends. Though it has a steep price of just over $3,000 USD, this could be a great present for the retro gamer in your life. That is if you can get your hands on one. They are only going to be producing 50 limited-edition units of the Cary42, so if you want one, you better get your pre-order in now.
Cary42 features around 100 games pre-loaded, but storage space for up to around 10,000 the company claims. With the two built-in joysticks, you’re bound to have hours of fun with Cary42 and some friends.
The exterior of this retro gaming console is made from solid American walnut with satin grey and black/white buttons. If you’re really into customization, however, Love Hulten offers the ability to have Cary42 engraved with mother-of-pearls in custom styles.
This unique retro gaming setup folds up conveniently into a briefcase. This makes Cary42 easy to, well, carry. And two can play it. It also means that every time you go to play it, you’ll be reminded how awesome of an experience you’re getting ready to enjoy.
Cary42 features a 12-inch 4:3 screen, two 10W speakers, and each one will be numbered 1-50 depending on which unit you get. It’s powered by a 12V DC power supply and comes with 16GB of Nano Flash pre-installed with several games (Love Hulten says around 100.) The external dimensions when folded up like a briefcase is 44x26x14-centimeters or approx 17x10x5.5-inches. The briefcase weighs in right at 3-kilograms, or around 6.6-pounds.
