Getting in shape or pursuing a healthier life can be difficult when just about all the feedback you’re getting is in the form of numbers. Not only can raw data be overwhelming and confusing, but also be intimidating and a hinderance to progress for many. But Shapa, a new smart scale, is one of the first designed to specifically combat this by emphasizing your overall health and providing personalized feedback.

This year has been packed with smartphone-enabled accessories, many of which focus on improving some aspect of your health. And while this list is full of smart scales similar to Shapa, none have placed such a high emphasis on simplicity and feedback. This result-focused mindset is something we have seen before when we went hands-on with Qardio’s smart scale, but Shapa has taken it to a new level.

So without displaying your weight, how does Shapa actually provide feedback? The display-less smart scale relies heavily on its companion app and offers personalized recommendations to tackle whatever health or fitness goals you’d like to reach. So instead of seeing just your weight, the scale provides a color alongside a Shapa Age, which both combine to offer a more true metric of your health and weight, says Shapa. These two attributes are personalized to each user and are affected by other metrics you may provide, as well as the end goals you seek.

Alongside a more friendly presentation of your health information, Shapa also leverages your data to offer helpful notifications, personalized goals and tips to ensure you’re staying healthy.

The smart scale comes in 4 different colorways, all of which are pretty drastically different from the designs you’ll find on other models. So for those turned off by the futuristic glass embodied by just about all the other scales on the market, Shapa may be even more appealing.

Shapa currently sells for just $99, down from its regular retail price of $129. The smart scale also requires a subscription to Shapa’s personalized health program, which will set you back another $8 a month

With a fairly competitive price tag and a wealth of features to boot, Shapa is certainly looking to be one of the best ways to get in shape. And with the new year around the corner, now’s a better time than ever to pursue those fitness goals.
