Boosted has announced the release of four new electric skateboards today. The highlights of the announcement include the addition of shortboards to their lineup and that extended range batteries come standard on the two new longboards.
The introduction of shortboards to the lineup enables Boosted to provide a lower-cost entry point for new customers. The Boosted Mini S is the lowest-priced model, coming in at just $749. Bear in mind that since Mini S comes in at a cheaper price point, both range and speed are affected. The range comes in at just 7 miles and the speed is just 18mph. However, the Mini S weighs just 15 pounds which is 10% less than the other 3 boards that were announced today. This makes it a bit easier to carry if you run out of power on the way to your destination.
The Boosted Mini X shortboard is a balanced option priced at $999. It is equipped with an extended range battery which enables it to go 14 miles on a single charge. It also can reach speeds of up to 20mph. It weighs 16.8 pounds and goes for a muted look by ditching the orange wheels for gray.
Both shortboards sport a 29.5-inch Deep Dish deck with a kicktail. Boosted states that the Deep Dish deck provides riders with “superior control and response” and the kicktail allows riders to make sharp turns and provides ultimate maneuverability.
The new longboards are both equipped with 38-inch decks and more powerful batteries that can provide up to a 14-mile range. The Boosted Plus can reach 22mph, climb 25% grade hills, has 4 ride modes and is priced at $1,399. A great option if you prefer a larger deck.
The Boosted Stealth is the high-end board. It is priced at $1,599 and offers an additional “Hyper mode” which allows riders to travel at up to a ludicrous speed of 24 mph.
Customers are able to start pre-ordering the new skateboards now. All of the boards announced today are able to be financed for 12-months through Affirm which can make an electic skateboard a bit easier to justify.
The Boosted Mini S is the first board to ship, as of publishing they are due to ship in 5-8 weeks while the Boosted Mini X will not be shipping for 10-12 weeks. Both the Boosted Plus and Boosted Stealth are due to ship in 6-10 weeks. If you don’t want to wait for a pre-order, the previous generation is available now on Amazon for $1199 shipped and is rated 4.3/5 stars.
