Bose launches Amazon Alexa integration for its QuietComfort 35 II headphones

If you ask someone what noise canceling headphones are, generally, you’ll get “Bose” as the answer. The Bose QuietComfort 35 (or QC35s as most refer to them as) are one of the most well-known pairs of noise-canceling headphones in the business. Recently, Bose launched the QC35 II’s with built-in Google Assistant.

Well, today Bose released an update to its Bose Connect app that allows you to change your digital helper from Google’s Assistant to Amazon’s Alexa.

Many people are heavily invested in the Alexa ecosystem, with the Echo, Echo Show, and even now as sound bars like the Polk Command Bar ship with Alexa built-in. Keep reading to find out how to enable Alexa on your Bose QC35 II’s and what all this means for users of these headphones.

In order to update your QC 35’s and change the options to allow Alexa to be your assistant of choice, you’ll need to follow these instructions:

1. Open the Bose Connect app and install the new software.
2. Once the update is installed, select See My Options and you can choose to use Amazon Alexa from the Bose Connect app.
3. If you haven’t already downloaded the Amazon Alexa app, you’ll be prompted to do so.
4. Make sure your pair your QC35 IIs to the Alexa app, too.
5. After you’ve done all this, you’re ready to start talking. Just hit the Action button on the QC35II and ask away. No need to say “Alexa.”

Once that’s done, you can now access Amazon Alexa with the press of the action button, allowing you to play music, get information and manage your day without the need of looking at your phone or tablet.

This is great for those who use Amazon often, want to check on orders, or who prefer Amazon Music with the company’s native Assistant giving you help throughout your day.

The action button now has three different uses, accessing Assistant, Alexa, or changing the noise cancellation settings from high to low, or even off. That last setting seems to be aimed more toward those in the HomeKit realm as it still makes the action button usable without having to use Google’s Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa.

This update is free to all customers through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and can be downloaded starting today. Don’t yet own the Bose QC35 II’s? You can pick them up at your favorite retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, or even your local Apple Store.
