WaterField has been running an interesting crowdsourced design process which has its most passionate customers participating to some degree in the design and development of new products. As part of its Gear Case Month, the first of three new products born out of the program is now ready for prime time.
Today, the San Francisco-based company is unveiling the new Tech Folio. A small premium material case designed to keep all of your tech accessories in order while on-the-go or at the office. Unlike most of the accessory folio options we’ve seen lately, this one also doubles as a tablet carrier with a padded pocket specifically for 10.5-inch iPads (or smaller).
Available in 1050 Denier ballistic nylon with black leather accents or a waxed brown canvas with chocolate leather detailing, the new Tech Folio measures 10.5 x 8 x 2-inches and weighs less than a pound. Along with an easy-access zippered exterior pocket, the entire folio unzips to open book-style so nothing gets buried in the bottom without you knowing about it. That front pouch can be good for your passport, phone and there appears to be an Apple Pencil friendly pocket in there as well. It doesn’t look there’s a dedicated iPhone compartment here, but there is ample real estate to stow your handset.
The interior features WaterField’s usual gold-looking lining to make your contents as easy to see as possible. You’ll also find a series of zippered pouches with see-through mesh coverings so you can see where everything is in a glance. Those “deep, plush” pockets are designed to carry things like a power bank, mouse and well anything of that size.
And remember you can be a part of the WaterField community design team as well. All the details for that are right here along with a step-by-step break down of how the new Tech folio was designed.
The new WaterField Tech Folio is available for pre-order now at $119 shipped. The new carrier currently has an August, 24th shipping date on it.
Last we heard from WaterField we got the Pro Leather Executive MacBook Backpack along with the companion Folio. Before that, the Leather VIA Wallet was unveiled in three operate colorways for $59.
