Samsung’s Thunderbolt 3 500GB X5 SSD drops to a new Amazon all-time low at $250 (Reg. $400)

Amazon is currently offering the Samsung 500GB X5 Thunderbolt 3 Portable SSD for $249.99 shipped. Also available at B&H for the same price. Last month we saw it drop to $300, and with today’s additional $50 discount you’re saving a total of $150. This price is an Amazon all-time low. Samsung’s X5 NVMe-based SSD comes wrapped in a sleek casing, features a Thunderbolt 3 port, and sports up to 2800MB/s transfer speeds. So far it carries a 3.8/5 star rating. In our recent hands-on review we said it “stands above all other bus-powered external drives in its class.”

Alternatively, you can opt for Samsung’s T5 Portable SSD instead and still add 500GB of USB-C storage to your Mac but at a fraction of the price, although one notable downgrade is that it only sports 540MB/s transfer speeds.
